Color Image Edge Detection Based on Mathematical Morphology

摘要: :为了克服传统边缘检测方法对噪声敏感的缺点,提出了一种基于数学形态学的彩色图像边缘检测新方法。该方法是在RGB空间内,把每个像素作为一个向量进行排序,将灰度形态学推广到了彩色图像。然后通过分析噪声(主要是椒盐噪声)污染图像的特点对彩色图像形态学基本算子进行了改进。改进后的算子有很强的抗噪性,可以直接实现边缘检测。实验表明,与传统方法相比,该算法能够更有效地抑制噪声对边缘检测的影响,并较好地保持图像边缘细节。

Abstract: The traditional edge detection methods have high sensitivities to noise, a novel color image edge detection algorithm based on mathematical morphology is proposed. Gray-scale morphology is extended to color image by sorting each pixel as a vector in RGB space. And then by analyzing the characteristics of the noise (mainly salt and pepper noise) contaminating image, color image morphological basic operators are improved. Improved operators are insensitive to noise and can directly achieve edge detection. Experimental results show that this algorithm can more effectively suppress noise on the impact of edge detection and better preserve edge image details than traditional methods.
