Abstract: This paper describes a realistic interactive method for modeling leaves by deformation based on Laplacian coordinates. This method generates the leaf meshes Using the silhouette and axial venation data of a leaf as input. The leaf surface can be edited interactively by using Laplacian coordinates as deformation calculation. The silhouette and axial venation data can be obtained using laser scanner or calculated by vein patterns. Experimental results show that the proposed method is very fast in deformation calculation and enough for real-time interactive application, with good universality. The generated 3D leaves model can not only maintain its area, but also show realistic effects.
