Computer Simulation of Multi-Color Effect in Chinese Painting

  • Online:2010-04-30 Published:2015-08-11

Abstract: Multi-color effect in Chinese Painting has a special feature of color distribution in stroke which would be varied by the speed and power of using brush and couldn’t be solved by the existing method of Texture Mapping. To simulate its complex color gradation, the method of multi-color stroke by superposition of general strokes of different colors is presented. Some problems are discussed, such as the number calculation of general strokes in a multi-color stroke, the real time display and integer deleting of the multi-color stroke. This method avoids the complex process of calculating the color in the stroke area point by point and ensures the best color resolution in the multi-color stroke. The simulated results indicate that the rendering effect is very lifelike, not only keeping the power characteristics of original drawing, but solving the problem of color transition in strokes correctly.
