Abstract: Based on virtual prototype technology, a kind of Virtual Prototype is established in UG and ADAMS software about the hill-drop planter with fixed and active parts which is like steering wheel in the shape. In the user interface, solver and postprocessor modules of ADAMS, simulation analysis on 3-D model and mechanical model of the hill-drop planter is conducted, including movement contrail, hole shape, influencing factor analysis of hole size, conditions of throwing seeds smoothly etc, and simulation data is obtained about hole size and secure rotational velocity of the planter. The analysis of variance and perpendicularity experiment on simulation data is conducted and, based on which, an optimized design scheme is presented about the structure and parameters of the planter. These studies provide theoretical basis for the design and manufacture of its physical prototype.
