Abstract: The evolution from manual 2D drawing, through 3D modeling with CAD to 3D annotating is reviewed. The significance of 3D annotating technology is indicated that it can help to get rid of the restriction of 2D drawings during the process of product design and manufacturing, and to realize the product design and manufacturing integration based on master model. Meanwhile, the implementation methods of 3D annotating are studied. Potential problems when it is carried out are analyzed, while some solutions are put forward. 3D annotating technology leads the trend of product design and manufacturing integration, and shows good prospect.
