Abstract: The research and application of Internet of Things (IOT) technology have been developed vigorously in various fields. Regarding to the hidden safety trouble of bridge health, a set of bridge health monitoring systems are designed and implemented based on IOT technology, which are verified by an example. IOT technology is adopted to realize real-time intelligent acquisition and transmission of the bridge structure’s arch rib deformation, abutment level relative displacement, abutment uneven settlement, girder deformation, cable force of the booms and bars, strain of the arch rib and girder and environmental information. A middleware software suite is developed to realizethe real-time receiving and storage of the bridge structure’s information. The visual monitoring software is used to realize remote monitoring and early warning, which provides the decision basis of the bridge monitoring, management and maintenance and guarantees the safe use of the bridge foundation facilities. A case analysis of the application of IOT technology in health monitoring of a river bridge is givenas a beneficial exploration.
