Abstract: In order to promote students overall development, a new evaluation system is proposed about the mechanical CAD teaching in China University of Petroleum (East China). The new evaluation system with a multi-appraisal way can scientifically and overall assess students’ comprehensive quality. It is based on the outcome-based education (OBE) theory, composed of process evaluation, theoretical knowledge examination, assessments on practical and creative abilities. The evaluation continues through the whole course, which is good for students to construct the course knowledge and can stimulate the students’ enthusiasm and initiative. Besides, the evaluation system puts more emphasis on cultivating and assessing the students’ innovation consciousness and engineering practice ability.
