Abstract: The Mechanical Engineering Design – CAD project of Worldskills International
competition and the CAD skills competition in Guangdong province for the last two years is
introduced and analyzed. Based on this, the problem of how to introduce the standards and rules of
the Worldskills International Competition into CAD skills competition in Guangdong province is
deeply studied. Then, the situation of mechanical CAD in China is stated from three aspects in the
follows: the current application of CAD in enterprises, teaching of CAD in the schools and
professional qualification examination of CAD. Finally, the current schools education of mechanical
design course, mechanical drawing course and CAD course in China and abroad are studied, and the
gap between them as well as the problems which should be taken seriously are presented.
