A 3D rapid assembly design method for embedded part of industrial building

Abstract: Currently, embed-parts design of industrial building structure always makes use of
2D CAD software, which is proven to be inefficient and error-prone. A generalized parametric
template based on assemble design method is proposed to improve the design efficiency and
quality. In this method, the generalized parametric template is established which encapsulates 3D
parametric structure, assembly constraint information and 2D schematic diagram, etc.. Then, the
library of parametric template of embed-parts is developed. Based on that, a history-based
assembly design technique is employed to assemble the embed-parts efficiently in three dimension
design environment. The proposed method has been implemented in the commercial 3D CAD
software for industrial building structure called InteRDS, which has been applied in practical
engineering design.
