Abstract: Free-form surface modeling is not only a difficulty work in teaching but also a weak spot for many 3D modeling workers. Through summarizing free-form surface formation laws, the basic methods of free-form surface modeling and surface analysis are introduced. Taking surface analysis method as the core, the key knowledge and contents, which the teaching of free-form surface modeling would be faced, are puts forward from the view of software applications rather than software development.
