Abstract: Based on the analysis of research status and limitation of finite element modeling technology, in view of the characteristics of mechanical equipment’s metal structure, such as large volume, complex structure, in order to establish the finite element model quickly and accurately, the framework of finite element modeling strategy is established, and eight strategies which should be followed in the finite element modeling process is put forward. The eight strategies mentioned above include global planning, equivalent synthesis, real time check-up, equivalent substitution, discretionary weakening, reasonable simplification, key refinement and skilful use of interference. In addition, taking ladle crane as an analysis object, the above modeling strategy is illustrated and the effectiveness and applicability of them are validated.
