    Abstract ( 76 )   PDF (516KB) ( 195 )
The iterative modification and flexibility of the 3D models of the aluminum profile extrusion dies are the key factors in their engineering application. In this paper, an optimized modeling method integrating the model discretization, hierarchical modeling and classified assembly is presented based on the analysis of the relationship between the structural characteristics of porthole dies and the method of 3D modeling combining with the die design process. Finally, the 3D modeling of the upper porhole die, based on the secondary-developed
UG NX5 platform, is provided as an instance. The least coupling of the 3D models verifies the feasibility of the optimized modeling method.

    2011, 32(4): 20-26.
    Abstract ( 97 )   PDF (891KB) ( 289 )
A new algorithm of road crack detection based on fractional differential and image morphology is proposed. Fractional differential can effectively enhance high-frequency signals, medium-frequency signals and non-linearly reserved low-frequency signals. After fractional differential covering module is constructed and applied to road images, road crack signal especially weak signal in smooth area reinforcement is implemented. Then in order to filter isolated noise and detect crack, enhanced image is operated by image morphology operators and a group of median filters. Experimental results proved that the algorithm is more robust and effective to detect road cracks especially for exiguous cracks than traditional algorithms.

    Abstract ( 107 )   PDF (789KB) ( 179 )
An algorithm for multi-meanings image synthesis which based on wavelet transform is presented. Firstly, the two target images were decomposed by wavelet transform with the scale which was selected by visual angles. Secondly, the multi-meanings image viewed in two angles was reconstructed by elective fusion algorithms and variable weight. The algorithm based on wavelet transform and two existing algorithms were compared and analyzed. Experimental results show that the images produced by this algorithm had better characteristics of multi-meanings and compelling visible effect, and contained sufficient color and details of original images. Finally, the results were averaged for denoising.

    2011, 32(4): 38-45.
    Abstract ( 62 )   PDF (618KB) ( 176 )
Focusing on the problem of copyright protection for engineering drawing and the deficiency of weak robustness of existing correlative algorithms, an information hiding algorithm for engineering drawing based on character dot-matrix code is proposed. To achieve information hiding, the algorithm converts the information to be hidden into dot-matrix code firstly, and then, selects some line entities according to the two-value chaotic sequence generated by Logistic system, and finally conducts a slight modification to the line width of engineering drawing on combination of the HVS and the hidden information. The experiment results show that the proposed algorithm has a better robustness against some attacks such as moving, rotation, scaling and edit of engineering drawing.

YANG Dong-chao, TIAN Ling, SHEN Yong-sheng
    2011, 32(4): 70-73.
    Abstract ( 69 )   PDF (494KB) ( 234 )

Models are indispensable teaching aids in mechanical drawing courses. Virtual models can be easily created, and object ones have stronger sense of reality, so they are both used very widely. Unfortunately, students are passive to use these readily-made models. It is better to lead students to make object models. Therefore, it is very important to set up a platform that can create various object models easily. Such a platform based on rapid prototyping theory is produced in this paper. Various models can be made with a computer and a printer. The process of making models not only effectively stimulates students to learn, but also helps students to understand such difficult content as truncation, auxiliary plane method and cutting.

Visual Fatigue and Mitigation for Stereoscopic Image Observation
WANG Fei, WANG Chen-sheng, LIU Xiao-jie
    2011, 32(4): 80-83.
    Abstract ( 93 )   PDF (460KB) ( 320 )
There are a number of problems in the observation of stereoscopic images created by using parallax, in which visual fatigue is a most critical one. By means of exploring the causes and symptoms of visual fatigue in parallax-based stereoscopic image observation, the influencing mechanism of inconsistent visual convergence and focus adjustment on visual fatigue are discussed. Based on this, four strategies to mitigate the visual fatigue for parallax-based stereoscopic images observation are proposed, namely, by reducing the eye burden, by limiting the inconsistency of focus adjustment and convergence to a reasonable bound, by avoiding excessive parallax and its discontinuous variation, and by utilizing lens correction.

A Hybrid Mesh Denoising Algorithm Based on the Mean Normal Filter
GAO Wei, LI Zheng, KANG Qian
    2011, 32(4): 84-88.
    Abstract ( 91 )   PDF (611KB) ( 209 )
Based on the research on the Mean Normal Filter for the mesh denoising, an improved hybrid denoising algorithm is proposed. Firstly, the vertices are classified into the noisy vertex and regular vertex using the arithmetic mean of the dihedral angle associated with the vertex’s all regular edge. Then, the displacement vector of the noisy vertex is that of the Laplacian method, and the displacement vector of the regular vertex is that of the Mean Normal Filter. Experimental results demonstrate that this hybrid method can efficiently suppress small and big noises while preserving the feature of the mesh during the denoising process.
