An Improved Delaunay Triangle Network Growth Algorithm and its Implementation
Zhao Ting, Peng Zhenghong, Mi Xinwu
    2013, 34(5): 12-15.
    Abstract ( 82 )   PDF (798KB) ( 294 )
A brief introduction is given for the general Triangle network growth algorithm.
An improved algorithm named as “the partition search method of the third point” is provided.
First, a series of circular arcs are used to divide the area of discrete points into multiple partitions.
Then - the third point is restricted to be searched only in the current partition and the next adjacent
partition when building the triangle network. After all the discrete points are added into the
triangle network in current partition, the search can be moved into the next partition. Last, the
C++ programming language is used to test the algorithm in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
environment. The result shows that the improved algorithm can improve the speed of building the
network, and the generated triangular shape is good.

Song Xiaochun, Wen Haiyan, Xu Zhengwang
    2013, 34(5): 16-19.
    Abstract ( 101 )   PDF (830KB) ( 175 )
In order to solve the problem in defect distribution mapping for the current tank
floor testing system, a method is developed based on the magnetic flux leakage (MFL) technique for
generating defect distribution maps automatically for floor inspection. Firstly, the initial scanning
position of the first channel sensor in MFL detector is chosen as reference point, and the single
scanning region can be defined by sensor channel numbers and sampling interval; then the vertex
coordinates of rectangle block diagonal are calculated by the sensor channels and sampling points of
defect signals involved, a block can be drawn to characterize the defect and the single defect
distribution map is generated. And after the reference point coordinates are normalized under an
unified coordinate system, blocks characterized the same defect, which are drawn in two adjacent
scanning, are merged into a new one by combing operation. Finally, the map to show defects
distributed on the whole tank floor are joined by single defect distribution maps. The experimental
results indicate that the proposed methods can generate the defect distribution map of tank floor
automatically, provide defect reports for tank floor inspection intuitively, and improve the efficiency,
practicality and reliability of the tank floor inspection system.

    Zhang Shiqing, Zhang Hao
    2013, 34(5): 46-50.
    Abstract ( 108 )   PDF (1270KB) ( 179 )
The arguments of the least colors that should be used to dye the 2D net color block
graph, such as maps and patterns, have puzzled the academia for one hundred and sixty years or
more. The basic reason is that the scholars have been working on to solve the problem with
classical mathematics methods, even though it is not a classical mathematics problem. Visualized
engineering geometry is used to turn the 2D net color block graph into dyeing equivalence normal
map, and critically adjacent domain axioms proved. The smallest unit of maps and their dyeing
mode is also established. Two kinds of map dyeing mode are found in the process. The first is
simple dyeing mode, and the second is the relevant dyeing mode. At the same time, a visualized
method is developed combining the dyeing and the process of turning the smallest map unit into
maps together. It is proven critically that any simple maps are suitable for the least four colors
dyeing method, but for the relevant maps, the number of colors that should be used are uncertain.

the maximum similar category of the query model is determined by comprehensively analyzing
the distribution of models in retrieved results based on various features. Then the location entropy
of the same class models of individual feature is calculated respectively. Finally, combination

category and location entropy. Compared with other dynamic and static combination methods on
Princeton 3D benchmark models, the results show the proposed method is effective in the case of

    2013, 34(5): 56-61.
    Abstract ( 163 )   PDF (773KB) ( 255 )
A subdivision algorithm is presented for non-uniform B-splines of arbitrary degree
in a manner similar to the Lane-Riesenfeld subdivision algorithm for uniform B-splines of
arbitrary degree. The algorithm contains two steps: refining and smoothing, and achieves
non-uniform B-Splines curve of arbitrary degree. The algorithm is based on blossoming rather
than the continuous convolution formula for the uniform B-spline basis functions. Two
blossoming polynomials are introduced to verify the correctness of the subdivision algorithm. The
subdivision algorithm is more efficient than the classical uniform subdivision algorithm for
B-splines of arbitrary degree, and as efficient as those currently available non-uniform subdivision
algorithms for B-splines of arbitrary degree.

Offset Approximation of Loop Subdivision Surface Based on Weighted Progressive Interpolation
    Chen Tiantian, Zhao Gang
    2013, 34(5): 66-70.
    Abstract ( 116 )   PDF (881KB) ( 218 )
Offset plays an important role in the field of CAD/CAM. The offset approximation
computation is more difficult for subdivision surfaces than parametric surfaces because
subdivision surfaces have no analytical expression. The proposed approach is an improvement of
two existed subdivision surface offset algorithms. Using the weighted progressive interpolation
(WPI) method avoids the mesh deviation caused by the traditional methods. The boundary offset
treatment is presented to obtain the uniform offset mesh. The proposed method avoids solving a
linear equation system and has the advantages of both local and global methods. The method can
be used to deal with either closed or open meshes. Offset approximation is an important operator
to the applications of Loop subdivision surfaces in NC machining. Some typical examples are
illustrated to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach in the end.

    2013, 34(5): 115-120.
    Abstract ( 73 )   PDF (467KB) ( 182 )
A variable-rate spray system of fruiter needs real-time detection for the fruiter
crown diameter. Existing digital image processing technology can not realize real-time detection
for the fruiter crown diameter. The problem is that the detection error is large or no error can be
detected. A reference standard plate with fruiters when capturing images is used to obtain the
fruiter crown diameter by calculating image unit pixel width in this paper. Comparing with the
reference crown diameter detected by the handheld laser rangefinder, test results show that 74% of
the test sample of 50 fruiters have a relative difference of less than 20% between the crown
diameters detected by the image processing method and the reference values. The regression
